JHS Gallery exhibits sacred art in Taos, New Mexico and facilitates liturgical commissions for many of its stable of fine religious and spiritual artists. The gallery features devotional and liturgical art: paintings, sculpture, icons, crosses/crucifixes, santos and photography in a variety of styles from traditional to contemporary and representational to abstract. Work done in marble, bronze, iron, oils, watercolor, acrylic, egg tempera and water-gilded gold leaf, as well as fiber silver gelatin photography can all be viewed at the gallery. Iconographic imagery and technique is drawn from Byzantine, Russian and Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Jewish, Hispanic and Native traditions as well as new interpretations by 21st century American masters of sacred and spiritual art. Subject matter includes Jesus Christ, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mary Mother of God, Stations of the Cross, Jewish Rabbis and numerous Holy Saints from old and new testaments and beyond.
